Out of five MPTCs, the Congress won four at Nemakal (Laxmanna), Mandageri (Raghava Reddy), Mayalur (Saramma), Holagunda (Mallaiah) while TDP won Dodda Mekala MPTC (Govindamma). Praja Rajayam district convener Bhuma Nagi Reddy who took the elections as a prestige issue, worked overtime at Allagadda and ensured the election of Ravi. The Congress finished second while the TDP secured third place. The Congress candidate could not be succeed despite the support of Congress MLA Gangula Pratap Reddy. At Aluru, Minister for Marketing M. Mareppa and MP Kotla Suryaprakasa Reddy made a strong bid to ensure the victory of the Congress but were not successful.
