Letters to the Editor
The views expressed in the article “Defeat of Hamas would be no victory” (Jan. 2) represent the views of all reasonable people. As one who always gives music classes for Israeli and Palestinian children together, Daniel Barenboim wields the moral authority to urge both sides to renounce violence and sit across the table to sort out their problems. The dispossession of the Palestinians cannot be wished away. Nor can status quo be perpetuated in the region for long. At this point of time, it makes eminent sense to enter into negotiations to reach a settlement that will pave the way for peaceful co-existence. G. David Milton, Maruthancode Israel’s inhuman, barbaric acts cannot guarantee the security of its citizens. The defeat of Hamas will only create more hatred in the Middle East. Israel must understand that it is not necessary to always demonstrate its military power, that too against innocent civilians.Rohit Kumar, Secunderabad
