dated January 3, 1959: Development of Industries

The Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri, inaugurating the 40th annual session of the Federation of Gujarat Mills and Industries, in Baroda on January 2, pleaded for complete co-ordination and co-operation between the different States in the country in trade, commerce and industrial matters. Mr. Shastri appealed to the different industries to build up a strong central organisation with regional units in the States. He criticised those who painted “a distorted alarmist picture” of the public sector and said these people were doing incalculable harm to the country.
