dated January 3, 1959: Indianisation of staff

The Government of India have decided to gradually replace foreign drilling personnel by Indians in the Oil and Natural Gas Commission, it is learnt. At present there are 98 foreigners helping in drilling and survey operations all over India. A departmental technical school has already been opened at Jwalamukhi to impart theoretical and practical training in drilling engineering. At present 21 assistant drillers and drill assistants are attending theoretical classes regularly and receiving practical training in deep drilling.
