Woes of the cotton farmers

ADILABAD: The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has criticised the government for failing to streamlining cotton purchase in Adilabad district. The party pointed out the prpoblems of the cotton farmers in selling the produce to the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI).Addressing a press conference, B. Laxminarayana and Teegala Krishna Reddy, Adilabad district in-charge for the jana chaitanya yatras said the government was ill-equipped to purchase all the quantity of cotton arriving in local markets. Because of this, farmers were forced to sell their produce to private purchasers at a price lower than the minimum support price. The leaders later visited Bela and Jainad mandals under the jana chaitanya yatra. - Staff Reporter
