Bijapur: Farmers from the five taluks of the district have organised “Almatti chalo” on Monday led by A.S. Patil Nadahalli, Devarhippargi MLA, to protest against the delay in completing various irrigation projects in the district. In a press release, Mr. Patil stated that projects such as the Chimmalgi lift irrigation project, Gutti Basavanna lift irrigation project, Mulwad lift irrigation project, and removing of silt from Doni river had been pending for decades. The “pada yatra” will begin from Devarhippargi and reach Alamatti Dam on January 10. A farmers’ convention will be held at Alamatti at 11 a.m., he added. — Staff Correspondent
