Usha Titus, secretary, Social Welfare, will be the chief guest. Richard S. Barth, Dean, School of Social Work, University of Maryland, Baltimore, will deliver the keynote address.

Special presentation

A highlight of the conference will be the participation of 10 children each from the States of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka in sessions which will discuss children’s problems and their protection.

Technical sessions

Mary Venus Joseph, Principal of the Rajagiri College of Social Sciences, said here on Saturday that the conference will feature technical sessions on a variety of topics including “Understanding Millennium Development Goals and Child Protection – Global and Indian Perspectives,” “Child Protection – Government and Non-government Initiatives,” and “Models and Initiatives in Child Protection.”

The conference is being supported by UNICEF and UGC. ICSW, Childline India Foundation, and Carithas India will cooperate with the Rajagiri School of Social Sciences in the endeavour.
