PANAJI: The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), State-owned organisation which co-hosts the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), will hold “Best of IFFI-2008”, an international competition showcasing 20 short films and documentaries drawn from the last IFFI, here next month. Chief Executive Officer of the ESG Manoj Srivastava said on Friday that the event was meant to give an impetus and exposure to short films and documentary production. The ESG had submitted to Chief Minister Digambar Kamat a report on the recently held IFFI-2008, outlining all aspects of the festival, the role of the ESG, problems faced and suggestions for future. The report, which also focused on the expenditure part of the IFFI, noted that the event succeeded in curtailing expenditure, he said. ActivitiesThe ESG was seeking to expand its activities in future and had sought more staff in marketing and programming areas. The ESG was also planning to organise eight film festivals in 2009, which would include feature film festivals and regional film festivals, Mr. Srivastava added.
