Agenda not yet decided for Belgaum session

Staff Correspondent

Belgaum: The Government appears to be undecided on the agenda for the Joint Legislature session slated to be held in Belgaum from January 16 to 25.

This was evident from the remarks of Speaker Jagdish Shettar, who told presspersons here on Saturday that the issues to come up for discussion would be spelt out in the Governor’s address to the session, even as suggestions from the Opposition would be included in the agenda.

Mr. Shettar, who was accompanied by the Chairman of the Legislative Council, Veeranna Mathikatti, reviewed the ongoing works taken up to re-fabricate the interiors of the Dr. B.S. Jirge Memorial Auditorium of KLE Society’s J.N. Medical College analogous to the Assembly Hall at the Vidhana Soudha in Bangalore.

Focus on north Karnataka

The Speaker said the session would concentrate on major issues and problems concerning northern Karnataka, even while taking up other business.

He said the Government had already released Rs. 10.54 crore to various departments to prepare for the legislature session and has taken up road repair and beautification.
