All set: Collector M.S. Shanmugam discussing with sabha members about the festival in Thiruvaiyaru on Saturday. THANJAVUR: The district administration is taking all steps to provide necessary facilities to music lovers and devotees of saint composer Sri Thyagaraja who will come for the saint’s aradhana at Thiruvaiyaru from January 11 to January 15 said M. S. Shanmugham, Collector, here on Saturday. The annual aradhana is conducted by the Sri Thyagabrahma Mahotsava Sabha. The Collector held discussions with officials regarding the preparations for the festival. He appealed to the Chatram administration officials to make arrangements at the Rajah’s College hostel and Government Higher Secondary School to accommodate visitors to the festival. State Transport Corporation should operate buses for the five days to Thiruvaiyaru from places like Thanjavur, Kumbakonam and Thirukattupalli and also make arrangements for buses to Chennai on the concluding day of the aradhana. He asked the Thiruvaiyaru Town panchayat administration to see that street lights and sanitation facilities are properly maintained. The Collector visited the saint’s samadhi where a huge pandal has been erected for the festival and inspected the Rajah’s College Hostel and Government Higher Secondary School. He also reviewed the works going on at a cost of Rs.77 lakh at Thiruvaiyaru new bus stand.
