Hooda announces HRA

Education allowance at the rate of Rs.500 per child per month

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Saturday announced grant of house rent allowance (HRA) to State Government employees on the pattern of the Central Government staff. He also announced that the employees would be given education allowance at the rate of Rs.500 per child per month.

Mr. Hooda, who was interacting with the media here after hearing the grievances of representatives of various unions of employees, said the education allowance would be for up to two children and it would be admissible up to Class XII.

He also announced constitution of a three-member Anomalies Committee which would be headed by the State Chief Secretary and have the Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary (Finance) and Legal Remembrancer as its members. He said the employees could submit their representations to this committee up to February 15 and these would be decided by March 15.

Mr. Hooda said the committee constituted under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary which had considered the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission for implementation in the State had recommended doubling of the existing HRA. However, he had decided to give it on the pattern of the Central Government.
