Mammootty on the Net

Staff Reporter

The actor joins the elite club of bloggers with i-am-mammootty.blogspot.com

Mammootty, in his first post, calls upon the public to step up commitment and ensure professionalism at work

KOCHI: After mesmerising the audience with his histrionics on screen, actor Mammootty is now trying to win the hearts of his audience through his literary skills.

But he will not be using a pen this time to unveil his thoughts and concerns.

Instead, the actor will move freely in the virtual world and will communicate with his fans by clicking the mouse thanks to his blog, ‘http://i-am-mammootty.blogspot.com/’, launched in Kochi on Thursday.

Mammootty has now joined the elite club of bloggers from the tinsel world that include Amitabh Bachchan and Amir Khan. And the actor wasted no time to convey a message that his blog would touch on a wide range of social and political issues.

Both Amitabh and Amir had earned applause in the blogsphere for throwing light on several contemporary issues including the latest Mumbai terror attacks.

First post

In his first post, Mammootty began this way:

“I am Mammootty. My thoughts, concerns and hopes will be presented here, as I am a social animal, and a citizen with social commitment.”

Much to the surprise of his well-wishers who thought that the actor would divulge some of the behind-the-scene stories in the movie world, Mammootty preferred to take a different route for his inaugural post. He showered light on one of the most debated issues in the world, ‘Politics of the economic structure.’

From analysing the economic meltdown from the purview of a common man to suggesting rapid changes in our investment pattern, Mammootty weaved in the concerns of an average Indian in the times of the downturn in the country’s economy.

The actor expressed his concern by saying that he was surprised when people here started saying that the fallout will not impact them.

“I am not sure whether anyone will be able to defeat the crisis, which has been moving fast. We need to create a climate that will not foster the crisis. We need to invent a new saving mentality and wise investments,” he said.

Popular in the industry for his systematic investments and planning in life, Mammootty also took the opportunity to point out that Malayalis were more concerned about the economic benefits rather than getting concerned about the quality of his work.

Urging the public to step up commitment and ensure professionalism at work, the actor encouraged them to turn the economic meltdown into an opportunity for a better tomorrow.
