Proposed joint survey of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh border welcomed

Staff Correspondent

Bellary: Tapal Ganesh, proprietor of the TNR Mines, according to a press release issued here on Saturday, has welcomed the recommendation made by Lokayukta Santosh Hegde to order a joint survey of the boundaries on Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh adjoining Bellary district. He has underlined the need to base the survey on the village maps of both the States adjoining the border.

This was necessary, according to him, to protect the State border and also the natural mineral wealth that belongs to the State. In a press release, Mr. Ganesh has said that prior to reorganization of the states, three villages – Obulapuram, Siddapur and Malapanagudi – were in Bellary taluk. The villages were annexed to Rayadurga after fixing the borders.

He said that a survey done based on topographic sheet would not be very accurate, village maps must be considered.
