20 per cent subsidy for textile-based units

Additional subsidy of five per cent for select category of people


Bellary: The Department of Handloom and Textiles, as per its new textile policy ‘Suvarna Vastra Neethi–2008-13’, has announced subsidies to textile-based units that will be set up after April 1, 2008.

For the textile-based industries like readymade garments units, powerloom, handloom, ginning, spinning and designing units that will be set up in the backward taluks of the district — Hagari Bommanahalli, Sandur, Sirguppa, Hadagali and Kudligi — a 20 per cent investment subsidy would be given with a ceiling of Rs. 20 lakh.

An additional subsidy of five per cent with a ceiling of Rs. five lakh would be given to entrepreneurs who belong to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, women, ex-servicemen and minorities, according to a press release issued here. If the units are set up in Bellary and Hospet, the investment subsidy would be around 15 percent with a ceiling of Rs. 15 lakh and an additional subsidy of five per cent with a ceiling of Rs. five lakh would be given to units set up by Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, women, ex-servicemen and minorities.

Besides this, the readymade garments units, spinning and powerloom units will get power subsidy to the tune of Rs. 1 per unit of electricity used would be reimbursed. The benefit is limited to 20 horse power for powerloom units.

The registration fees on land, plots, loan agreement and mortgage deeds would be reimbursed. Similarly, the entry tax collected on textile machineries, power-generation equipment, common effluent treatment plant, would also be reimbursed, the press release added.
