CHICKBALLAPUR: The Chickballapur Town police on Saturday arrested an engineering graduate who had allegedly made a threatening call, claiming himself an Indian Mujahideen operative, to a local businessman and demanded Rs. 50 lakh. The arrested was identified as Ashok (25), an engineer by qualification from Mulbagal taluk of Kolar district, the police said. Ashok, who comes from a poor family, had taken to crime to make quick money. Ashok’s friend, a woman from Chickballapur who has a Master of Business Administration degree, had given him the telephone numbers of the businessman, the police said. — Special Correspondent
