Two of family die after eating poisoned food

Special Correspondent

CHICKBALLAPUR: A man and his five-year-old daughter died and two members of the family were indisposed after they unknowingly had poisoned food at their house in Doddaballapur taluk in Bangalore Rural district on Saturday.

The police said the incident took place at Muniraju’s house in Haadahalli village in Doddaballapur Rural police station limits. Muniraju (30), a worker at a brick kiln, kept rat poison in a shelf in his house on Friday night, which fell into a “sambar” bowl. On Saturday morning, Muniraju, his wife and two children ate rice with the poisoned “sambar”. Muniraju and his daughter Roopa died. His wife and son were undergoing treatment at the Victoria Hospital in Bangalore, the police said. The Doddabballapur Rural police, who have registered a case of unnatural death, denied reports that the family members had entered into a suicide pact.
