Workshop on latest document preparation system held

VILLUPURAM: A two-day workshop on the latest document preparation system — LaTeX — was organised here under the aegis of Theivanai Ammal College for Women recently.

Resource person M.Kalidoss, Reader in Physics, St.Joseph’s College, Tiruchi, said Greek symbols such as Tau, Epsilon and Chi constituted Tex, which was a type-setting programme.

This software was used essentially by foreign book publishers and research papers were expected to be submitted in the LaTeX format, he said.

In the workshop faculty from various engineering colleges, located at Mailam, Vellore, Villupuram, and Chennai participated.

Training imparted

They were imparted training in type-setting techniques such as fonts, type size, document preparation, bibliography setting and graphics.

College Secretary S.Senthil Kumar, Principal Kasthuribai Dhanasekaran, and S.Selvi, Head of Mathematics Department, spoke.
