Lucknow: Nearly 52 quintals of ammonium nitrate that is used in making explosives and 300 detonators were seized and six persons arrested after an encounter in Mirzapur district, police said on Sunday. On a tip off, a police team from Kotwali Dehat followed a truck and a jeep on Saturday night in which six persons were travelling. They opened fire at the police, a police spokesman said. The six were arrested and about 52 quintals of ammonium nitrate, 41 bundles of fuse wire, 300 detonators, 157 detonator chargers, a country made pistol, a rifle and some cartridges were recovered from their possession, the spokesman said.- PTI
