India playing host to foreign doctors

Staff Reporter

Six Iraqi cardiologists are currently learning new advances and techniques

NEW DELHI: Not just patients looking for treatment of critical diseases, India is also witnessing an influx of doctors coming here to learn new advances and techniques in field of medical science. Playing host to a group of six cardiologists from Iraq for the past two months is the Metro Hospitals and Heart Institute in neighbouring Noida.

The guests are pursuing training at the Metro Hospital and Heart Institute which is equipped with the latest international technology to carry out the most critical cardiac procedures.

“The cardiologists are observing the techniques of complex interventional procedures like removal of the difficult and calcified blocks in the heart arteries, opening of the tight valves of the heart and heart-hole closure without surgery. Apart from this the cardiologists are also observing pacemaker and electrophysiological procedures performed by senior doctors at the hospital,” said a release issued by the hospital.

“We find the institute a perfect centre for training. We are being trained by an organised team of doctors who fight for the lives of patients like soldiers,” said Dr. Hazim Kahdim, a cardiologist from Iraq.

“We appreciate the opportunity that we have got, to work and observe the scientific approach, personal involvement of the doctors with their patients – all of which is remarkable,” said Dr. Yaseen Obaid Yaseen, a senior cardiologist from Iraq.

“It is a matter of great pride for India that the senior doctors from other countries have started coming to India to observe the complex procedures and to increase their knowledge and talent here,” said Dr. Purshotam Lal, Director of Interventional Cardiology at Metro Heart Institute.
