Grand double for Anusha

VIJAYAWADA: K. Anusha won a grand double winning the u-12 and u-14 girls’ titles in the Krishna District tennis championship that concluded at Andhra Loyola College tennis complex here on Sunday.

In the u-14 boys final, Harshit Jain defeated Gary Renil 6-1-, 6-1, while the u-12 title went to S. Kalyan Babu, who outplayed Prapanna 7-5, 6-4.

The results: (all finals):

Boys u-10: A. Sai bt L. Sailesh Babu 6-4, 6-4; U-12: S. Kalyan Babu bt V. Prapanna 7-5, 6-4; U-14: Harshit Jain bt Gary Renil 6-1, 6-1.

Girls: U-10: V. Jytri bt P. Likhitha 6-3, 6-3, U-12: Anusha bt V. Lasya 6-1, 6-1, Anusha bt Lasya 6-3, 6-3.

Hyderabad in final

Hyderabad boys defeated East Godavari 15-12, 15-10 in the first semifinal of the School Games federation inter-district u-19 throwball championship held at AG & SG Degree College at Vuyyuru on Sunday. In the girls’ segment, Chittoor beat Anantapur 15-11, 15-4 to make it to the final.

The results: (all Quarterfinals): Boys: East Godavari bt Anantapur 15-2, 15-2, West Godavari bt Guntur 15-8, 15-11, Hyderabad bt Karimnagar 10-15, 15-8, 15-11, Krishna bt Vizag 16-14, 15-5.

Girls: Chittoor bt Hyderabad 15-2, 15-6, West Godavari bt Guntur 15-3, 15-2, Anantapur bt Nalgonda 15-1, 15-0, Krishna bt Kadapa 15-4, 15-3.

CBR athletes excel

City’s CBR Academy athletes with 20 points won the team championship of the AP State cross-country championship held at Mancherala (Adilabad District) on Sunday.

The athletes are B. Ram Babu, Hari Prasad, V. Lakshmi Narayana, U. Sivaiah and V. Nagarjuana.

In the individual segment, Khammam’s Nagaraju and Sobhan of Warangal finished first and second.
