Chitradurga is being spruced up for sammelan

Rangamandir to get wooden flooring, and sound and lighting facility at a cost of Rs. 5.3 lakh

Chitradurga: The fact that the venue of the 75th Kannada Sahitya Sammelan is Chitradurga district has not just cheered literary personalities but also the common people. However, the general public is happy because several development works which would never have been taken up are now under way as a part of preparations for the sammelan.

The District Administration has taken up roads works at a cost of Rs. 2 crore that was granted by the State Government from the State Finance Corporation (SFC) funds. This fund is being used for laying/improving major roads leading to the District Stadium, the venue of the sammelan. Lighting arrangements are being made at various prominent places of the city. Besides this, nearly Rs. 35 lakh from the funds released for the sammelan will be used for development of infrastructure.

Over Rs. 1.3 crore will be used for asphalting of roads, including the stretch from Challakere Circle to District Stadium, BESCOM office to Jogimatti Road, and Holalkere Road to Chandravalli Circle.

About 60 High Mask and Sodium lights will be installed on all the roads leading to the District Stadium, the venue, and surrounding areas.

Even the Rangamandir where cultural and literary activities will be held will be spruced up. Wooden flooring will be laid, better sound and lighting facility will be put in place at a cost of Rs. 5.3 lakh.

About five main circles of the city would be improved at an estimated cost of Rs. 5.5 lakh. Sodium lights and sign boards will be installed there.

Flex sign boards will be installed at two bus stops at a cost Rs. 3 lakh. And drainage work will be taken up at a cost of Rs. 18 lakh.

On the whole, the city will soon have better roads with good lighting and sophisticated drainage system which are major requirements of the citizens here.
