It will be ensured that students will not face any problems with the EAMCET date: APSCHE Chairman
HYDERABAD: The uncertainty over the dates of the Common Entrance Tests (CETs) for the year 2009 would come to an end on January 7 when the A.P. State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) has called for a meeting to discuss the issue that concerns lakhs of students across the State.
Officials, however, seem to have come to an understanding on the choice of the EAMCET-2009 Convenor. Former EAMCET Convenor and professor of Computer Sciences in JNTU, L.V.A.R. Sarma seems to have emerged as the top choice for the most awaited test of the State.
Prof. Sarma is presently on deputation and working as the Dean of Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT).
However, there is a technical hitch that before being appointed as the Convenor, he has to go back to his parent university.
It was during his term that the EAMCET saw several changes.
Changes in the pattern of the test, introduction of online facility, supply of HB pencils by the organisers were some of the key decisions that made the test more transparent and effective.
The next Assembly has to be formed before the second of week of May and the EAMCET is generally conducted during that time so that it will not clash with other examinations. So this time officials have to work out the date keeping in view all these aspects.
The introduction of 25 per cent weightage from this year means that exam dates of Intermediate and the advanced supplementary have to be kept in mind.
The APSCHE Chairman, K.C. Reddy said efforts were on and it will be ensured that students will not face any problems with the EAMCET date.
