Industrial digest

The State Government has announced subsidy for modernisation of powerlooms.

In Coimbatore district, Rs. 5,000 will be provided for a loom and about 200 powerlooms will be modernised under the scheme.

According to an official release, assistance will be provided on first-come-first-served basis.

Weavers should submit their applications in person by January 5 to the Assistant Director, Handlooms and Textiles, No:23, Bharathi Park, Second Cross, Saibaba Colony, Coimbatore – 641011. Telephone number: 0422-2445601.

The weaver should have two to eight looms and grant would be provided to each weaver for two looms. Those who had already taken subsidy for modernisation of their looms would not be eligible.
