‘Accent on patient care’

Thiruvananthapuram: The accent of health sector reforms in two years will be on improving patient care facilities and quality of hospital service, Health Minister P.K. Sreemathy said here on Sunday. “In health care, it is high time that we shifted our focus and priority to patients,” Ms. Sreemathy said, inaugurating the third annual convention of the Trivandrum Medical College Alumni Association on Sunday. Health Secretary Vishwas Mehta inaugurated the burns intensive care unit set up with contributions from the 1974 batch of the alumni. M.S. Valiathan, founder-director of Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute, delivered the Dr. R. Kesavan Nair Memorial Oration. B.M. Hegde, former Vice-Chancellor, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, gave the Dr. K.N. Pai Memorial Oration.
