dated January 6, 1959: Travel in solar system

The Deputy Chairman of the Astronomical Council of the Soviet Academy of Sciences, Prof. Boris Kukarkin, said on January 4 in a Moscow Radio broadcast that it was technically possible and probably “soon attainable” to build rockets with a much higher speed than that of the Moon rocket now in orbit round the sun. “Such space-ships will be capable of travelling beyond the boundaries of our solar system,” he said.
