dated January 6, 1959: Mr. Koestler’s tribute

Mr. Arthur Koestler, the famous U.S. author, speaking at a reception in Bombay on January 5, said that he had come to India not to teach but to learn. He paid tributes to the Indian spiritual values and said he was impressed that the country had produced great leaders like Gandhiji and Acharya Vinoba. They were able to carry their messages by their examples. The West had much to learn not from their programmes but from their methods which appealed to the individual conscience.
