Revenue and district in-charge Minister G. Karunakar Reddy performed the puja.

Speaking after performing the puja, the Minister expressed happiness over the work, which, he said, was going on at a brisk pace.

He said that though there were controversies over the conduct of the sammelan initially, the work had got under way and it was now going on at a fast pace.

He called upon the people of the district to extend their support to the event.

Mr. Karunakar Reddy said that on the request of the elected representatives and Ministers from the district, the Government had released an additional Rs. 1 crore for the sammelan.

“The Chief Minister has granted Rs. 2 crore for the development of infrastructure,” he said.

As there was no dearth of funds, the district administration has been instructed to ensure quality food and good accommodation facility for the participants, the Minister said.

Mr. Prasad said that besides seminars on literature, the parishat has decided to hold meetings on various issues, including problems related to farmers and agriculture.

“We are inviting guests from various parts of the country to deliver lectures. Those connected with the media will give special lectures on various topics,” he said.

Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Gulihatti Shekhar said that his Ministry was giving 8,000 pillow covers and bedspreads for the event. Davangere MP G.M. Siddeshwar, former MLA G.H. Tippareddy, Deputy Commissioner Amlan Aditya Biswas, Superintendent of Police Labhu Ram and heads of maths were present.
