Residents demand railway station

Staff Reporter

PUDUCHERRY: The Puducherry Kamarajar Illaignar Mandram has appealed to the Railway Ministry to establish a railway station at Palliyaneliyanur. In a letter to Union Minister for Railway R. Velu, president of the association Sooramangalam G. Kannan said that before broad gauge conversion, trains plying between Puducherry and Villupuram used to halt at Palliyaneliyanur.

The railways decision to withdraw halting of trains at Palliyaneliyanur after the conversion work had caused enormous hardship to office goers and students.

The association wanted the Railway Ministry to put up a station for the benefit of commuters.
