Letters to the Editor
The appeal made by internationally renowned scholars and activists from Pakistan (Jan. 5) is a heartening development. Not only Pakistan but also the Indian government should pay serious attention to such well-meaning and enlightened appeals. Indian intelligentsia and activists should support the appeal and come out with an appeal to the Indian government to show statesmanship and not fall into the trap of media-hyped war-mongering and national jingoism, which are bound to create reverse and rebound jingoism in Pakistan. In both countries, the people are suffering terrorism. They should jointly fight it in cooperation with each other. Chaman Lal, New Delhi
