CBI probe into DDA allotments sought
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: A large number of miffed applicants from here under the banner of DDA Flat Applicants’ Association have demanded a CBI probe into the recent allotment of DDA flats through the draw of lots. “The DDA by hyping this affordable housing scheme asked lakhs of Delhiites to deposit Rs.1.5 lakh per application. The banks encashed on the opportunity and earned crores as interest by giving loans to applicants. Now we have a rigged draw,” said Ritesh Dewan, an applicant. “The DDA and banks have earned interest worth crores. Apart for cancellation of the draw, the DDA should give interest to all applicants as they have used their money,” said Richa Bhatia, another applicant. “We were promised that we will be refunded our money by December 31, 2008, but that has not happened. The DDA should be penalised ,” said M.G. Minotra, another applicant.
