Collector distributes assistance

ARIYALUR: The district administration has provided Rs. 22.35 lakh to 119 beneficiaries under the Moovalur Ramamirtham Ammaiyar Memorial Marriage Assistance Scheme.

Accompanied by the District Social Welfare Officer G. Gandhimathi, Collector R. Sudalaikannan handed over the benefit to the beneficiaries drawn from the blocks of Andimadam, Jayankondam, Ariyalur and Tirumanur, on Monday. Ninety beneficiaries received Rs. 20,000 each and the rest received Rs. 15,000 each. At another function, Mr. Sudalaikannan inaugurated a training programme on bar-bending for 54 uneducated village youth and those who had either passed or failed in standard X at the Industrial Training Institute in Ariyalur town.

At the end of the five day training imparted free of cost with support from the Chennai-based Pulkit Bar Benders Academy, the participants will receive certificates. In his inaugural address, the Collector said the training will help the youths.
