Siddaramaiah will not leave Congress, says Ibrahim

Special Correspondent

Bangalore: A number of leaders and office-bearers, particularly those, who had worked with the former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramiah in the Janata Parivar, on Monday told the Congress high command in chorus to stick to its position of accommodating Mr. Siddaramaiah and strengthen the organisation to face the next Lok Sabha elections with confidence.

Attending the core committee meeting of senior leaders convened by the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), Mr. Siddaramaiah’s close associate and former Union Minister C.M. Ibrahim said that the backward class leader would not leave the Congress.

As expected, Mr. Siddaramaiah, the former Union Ministers Ambareesh and R.L. Jalappa did not attend. Addressing presspersons, KPCC president R.V. Deshpande and working president D.K. Shivakumar said that Mr. Siddaramaiah was a senior leader and should be given a suitable position.

Upset over the repeated questions, Mr. Deshpande said that he met Mr. Siddaramaiah on Sunday and convinced him of the respect the party had for him. When he was reminded that Mr. Siddaramaiah continued to be in angry mood, while the party top brass was soft on him, Mr. Deshapande reacted that it was his nature.
