Take diplomatic steps to halt Israeli action, says CPI(M)

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Monday demanded that the Manmohan Singh government take immediate steps along with countries like South Africa and Brazil to see that Israel stops its aggression right away.

Attack condemned

Denouncing the attack of Gaza by the Israeli forces, the party Polit Bureau said in a statement that after a week of “barbaric air raids,” Israel had now begun the ground offensive, which had sharply increased civilian casualties.

The Polit Bureau condemned the stand taken by the U.S. in the U.N. Security Council, which prevented a statement calling for an end to hostilities.

Demonstration

The Polit Bureau called upon its party units and other progressive forces to organise protest against this brutal aggression. It also demanded the UPA government to halt its military and security collaboration with Israel.
