Bangalore: The annual creative talent hunt is back as 2009 goes into full swing with talent being mobilised from across 1,100 schools in the country through the National Digital Elocution Competition (NDEC) 2009, which is now in its fourth year. Organised by Reliance World, the retail arm of Reliance ADAG, NDEC 2009 gives schoolchildren the opportunity to match their elocution skills on a platform that integrates cutting edge technology and interactivity. Students will be encouraged to use interactive platforms such as VDO contest and video conferencing to express themselves across boundaries, according to a press release. It said that students from smaller cities such as Dharwad, Hubli, Mysore, Mangalore, Shimoga, Davangere, Gulbarga, Belgaum, Raipur, Amravati, Sanghli, Gandhinagar, Jamnagar, Howrah, Guntur, Rajamudhry, Salem, Thanjavur and Palghat would take part in the competition. The elocution competition is open to students of fifth to 10th standard, with fifth to eighth standard forming the junior group and eighth to 10th standard forming the senior group. The topics are “If I were a personal computer” for the junior group and “Staying safe on the Internet - My online playground” for the senior group. Students can visit any Reliance World outlet and complete the registration process. All submissions of not more than two minutes should be made in English. The last date to submit entries is January 20. The finals of the contest will take place on February 12.
