Draw of lots challenged
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: An Indian Air Force functionary on Tuesday moved the Delhi High Court challenging the recent draw of lots for allotment of flats by the Delhi Development Authority. The petitioner, Rajesh Kumar, had applied for a flat under the scheme but failed to get one.
In his petition, he has sought scrapping of the entire process, alleging that the allotment of flats was illegal because it was arbitrary.
Persons with vested interests had been able to hijack flats by providing fake names and mobile numbers in their applications, and the Authority had failed to detect them, the petition submitted. “The draw of lots made by the DDA is illegal, arbitrary and grossly against the public policy and there is sufficient evidence to show that the draw suffered from malpractices coupled with irregular and irresponsible conduct by the Authority.”
