Antony wants to return to Kerala

New Delhi: Defence Minister A.K. Antony has said that he has no plans to stay in the national capital and wants to return to Kerala after his responsibilities at the Centre are over.

Mr. Antony’s remarks came at a function here in response to Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s suggestion that he should remain in Delhi and continue to hold “greater” responsibilities.

“I have great regards for Sheilaji. But I differ with her on the suggestion made today...that I should remain in Delhi. I will go back to Kerala after completing my responsibilities here,” Mr. Antony said, speaking at the inauguration of the Army College of Medical Sciences here on Tuesday.

Ms. Dikshit’s suggestion was a significant one given the fact that the Lok Sabha elections are not far away.

Mr. Antony’s remarks also came in the backdrop of Ms. Dikshit’s recent statement on being a candidate for Prime Ministership.

“No, not at the moment. I cannot even dream of it. I have never dreamt of it. I do not dream of it...Because Prime Ministers are not made just like that,” Ms. Dikshit had said soon after her Assembly win when asked whether Prime Ministership was on her radar.— PTI
