This Day That Age
Prime Minister Nehru, unveiling a statue of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Abhyankarnagar on January 6, made a powerful plea to the people to strengthen the unity of the country so that they could march forward together on the pilgrimage of progress. The equestrian statue stands on top of a 64-foot high tower of the Press building of the Shivaji Fine Art and Litho Works — in commemoration of the 64th session of the Congress being held in Abhyankarnagar. Mr. Nehru said that Shivaji was a symbol of freedom. India’s history turned a new chapter from Shivaji’s times and the movement went on till India became free.
