Letters to the Editor
This refers to the editorial “Voices of reason” (Jan. 6). It was heartening to read the spirited statement of Pakistani intellectuals and rights activists urging their government to come out of its state of denial. All right-thinking people in Pakistan should bring pressure on their government to ban the terror outfits functioning from their soil, besides urging it to maintain cordial relations with India. N.R. Ramachandran, Udhagamandalam The editorial is well written. It starts with an ‘if ’and ends with an ‘if.’ No doubt, if voices of reason prevail, a peaceful solution to all problems can be found. But in Pakistan’s case, the military-ISI axis prevails over the elected government. Kodali V. Rao, Reston, Virginia The appeal by the enlightened citizens of Pakistan, exhorting their government not to remain in a state of denial is welcome. In these trying times, the editorial will definitely send a strong message to all on the need for a positive response to the appeal. G. Manickavasagam, Puducherry
