Rs.1.71 crore for work on commercial complex

Special Correspondent

Thiruvananthapuam: The State government has sanctioned Rs.1.71 crore to complete the work on the C- block of the commercial complex under the Thiruvananthapuram Development Authority (TRIDA) at Palayam.

The Kerala State Nirmithi Kendra (Kesnik) will take up the work, Minister for Local Self-government Paloli Mohammed Kutty said here on Tuesday.

The work contract included an incentive for early completion of the project. Kesnik will have to shell out a penalty for delay, the Minister said.

The C-block is part of the ambitious Palayam Urban Renewal Scheme designed to convert the market and the surrounding areas into a commercial centre with all modern amenities.

The three-storey building will accommodate the shops that were demolished for widening MG Road, from the VJT Hall to the LMS Junction.

Trida Secretary Dileep Kumar said almost 75 per cent of the construction work had been completed.
