One killed, 35 injured in accident

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The driver of a Thiruvananthapuram-bound KSRTC bus was killed and 35 Sabarimala pilgrims travelling in it injured when the bus hit some boulders and overturned, near Vamanapuram on MC Road on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Shine Das, 21, a resident of S.S. Bhavan, Keezhkolla, Amaravila. He was attached to the KSRTC’s Parasala depot.

The pilgrims hailing from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh were admitted to a private hospital at Venjaramood.

The incident occurred around 1.45 a.m. when the KSRTC bus attached to Parasala depot was coming to Thiruvananthapuram. The accident took place near the curve near old post office, police said. The police have registered a case.
