Thiruvananthapuram: The government has cleared the ground for the establishment of the first district-level information technology (IT) park at Kollam. Education Minister M.A. Baby handed over the land for the project to IT Secretary Ajaykumar at a function at Kollam on Tuesday. District Collector A. Shahjahan and officials of the district administration and Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram, were present. Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan is scheduled to launch the development activities of the Kollam Technopark on February 10 at Kundara. The 40-acre campus will have an investment of over Rs.800 crore and provide direct employment opportunities to 20,000 IT/ITES professionals. Mr. Baby said the project at Kollam had the potential to be developed as an IT hub.
