Tejaswini Alekh Prasad, a second year student of a private engineering college, landed behind the bars on Tuesday for allegedly sending obscene messages through his mobile phone to a senior girl student of the same college.

The S.R. Nagar police arrested Prasad on a complaint lodged by the girl’s family members.

Thieves took away gold ornaments worth over Rs. 4 lakh after breaking into a flat at S.R. Nagar during daytime on Tuesday. Owner of the flat, Chiranjeevi, a retired manager of HMT, had gone out at around 1 p.m. when his house was burgled.
