VIZIANAGARAM: Minister for Housing Botcha Satyanarayana has claimed positive response to government welfare schemes from people in rural areas. This was evident during his interaction with participants in ‘samkshema utsavalu’ of the party in mandals. Addressing a press conference at the party office here on Wednesday, Mr. Satyanarayana said one or two per cent of eligible people had complained that they had not received the benefits. He assured them that they too would be covered shortly. Unlike in the past when rice meant for food-for-work programme was diverted for gain, there was transparency now in the implementation of NREGP, he said. Stating that the people have faith in the government’s assurances, the Minister exuded confidence that the party would retain power. With regard to alliances, he said the parties that are attracted by the Congress policies and programmes would on their own come to them to join hands. The Left parties that sailed with it in the past are now giving priority to friendship and relationships more than ideologies. The Left parties still have no clarity on Telangana. It was the Congress that reacted positively on the issue and certain procedures have to be followed, he added. On the reported statements of PRP president Chiranjeevi against the government in Nellore, the Minister said that the language used was not correct and he would leave it to his conscience.
