Suicide by widow

Dehra Dun: A widow, who survived a suicide attempt last month but lost her two mentally-challenged children, allegedly ended her life by consuming poison in Harrawala village here.

Police said Vidya Devi (42) was found dead in her house by neighbours on Tuesday evening. On December 20, Devi, a mother of three, had attempted suicide after killing her mentally-challenged children -- Shivam (18) and Rachna (17) by giving them poisoned food.

While the children died in the hospital, Devi survived. Her husband Vijay died of heart attack in November last and the widow was left with no source to feed the four-member family.
