The report that a 22-year-old MBA student was waylaid and criminally assaulted by a group of youngsters in Noida on Monday evening is appalling. The brazen act shows that there is no fear of the law in the minds of wrongdoers. There is an urgent need to make the punishment more stringent — and make rape punishable by death. Laws should be strong enough to act as deterrents. Sikander Khan, New Delhi Once again, Noida is in the news for the wrong reasons. It was heartening to read that the victim came forward to report the crime. All right-thinking people should support her in her endeavour to get justice. Manjunath R. Goudar, Dharwad
