MOSCOW: Russia has halted all deliveries of natural gas to Europe through Ukraine accusing Kiev of shutting down its transit pipelines. Prime Minister Vladimir Putin ordered the halt after being told that Russian gas was not reaching Europe because Ukraine had turned off the valves on all the four pipelines leading to Europe in apparent retaliation for Moscow cutting off gas supplies to Ukraine over a gas debt and price dispute. Over 80 per cent of Russian gas is shipped via Ukraine. E.U. has given Russia and Ukraine 24 hours to resolve their dispute and resume gas deliveries.
