HUBLI: The State Government has given its approval for “consent award” proposed by the district administration for owners of residential buildings to be acquired for the expansion of the Hubli airport here. Deputy Commissioner Darpan Jain told The Hindu on Tuesday that the district administration would go ahead with the acquisition process through Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB). EffortsHe said that efforts to sort out the differences over compensation were fruitful. Seventy-eight residential buildings had to be acquired for the expansion of the airport. The district administration had Rs. 23 crore towards payment of compensation to the owners of residential buildings. The Deputy Commissioner said that by January-end, disbursement of compensation would be completed. Those interested would be given sites developed by the Hubli-Dharwad Urban Development Authority.
