Mock EAMCET on February 1

Staff Reporter

Over 304 centres across the State

Nearly 54,000 students attend model test last year

SFI against new EAMCET ranking process

HYDERABAD: The State committee of Students’ Federation of India (SFI) will conduct its ninth model Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) on February 1.

MLC and coordinator of the model test, Chukka Ramaiah and SFI State secretary K. Bhaskar released the schedule of the test here on Wednesday.

Mr. Ramaiah said, the test has been useful for students from rural areas and it was attended by around 54,000 students last year, largest turnout for a mock EAMCET conducted by any non-government organisation.

“Standards and methodology of the examination were excellent and the government had then introduced certain changes in EAMCET based on our suggestions,” he said.

Inter marks

Mr. Bhaskar opposed the government’s decision to give 25 per cent weightage to Intermediate marks in EAMCET ranking process. He said, the move will give undue advantage to the students from corporate colleges and work against their counterparts from government and small private colleges.

“In last year Intermediate exams, 11.68 per cent students got cent per cent marks in practicals and 94 per cent of them were from corporate colleges. They are bound to score higher marks,” he explained.

The model test will be conducted in more than 304 centres across the State and the fee is Rs.30.
