Abducted from Bangalore by uncle

Bangalore police trace phone call to L. B. Nagar in city

Boy found by vegetable vendor at a fruit market

HYDERABAD: A seven-year-old boy, reportedly kidnapped from his school in Bangalore a week ago, was traced in Kothapet of L.B. Nagar here on Wednesday.

Parents of first standard student Ankush were informed of this even as a hunt was launched for the boy’s uncle Krishna and his unidentified associate believed to be behind the abduction, said DCP of Cyberabad (L.B. Nagar), M. Kantha Rao. The motive behind the kidnap was not known as yet. The police maintained that the abductors made threatening calls to the boy’s parents but did not demand ransom.

Threat calls

Mr. Rao said, Ankush was abducted from Kids’ Kingdom School on Pipeline Road in Bangalore on December 30. The boy’s father, Laxman, had reported the matter to police.

The Bangalore police sought the help of Cyberabad police after they traced the threat call to a public telephone booth in L.B. Nagar here. “Though no ransom was demanded, the threat calls suggested that the kidnappers were moving in our area. We circulated the boy’s photographs at telephone booths and shops,” the DCP said. Around noon on Wednesday, a vegetable seller found Ankush near the fruit market.

Timely rescue

She grew suspicious and alerted the police. As the boy’s descriptive particulars matched with that of the circulated photo, they rushed to the place and took custody of the child.

The boy maintained that Krishna and ‘another uncle’ picked up him from school and brought him to city by a bus.

A police team from Bangalore started for Hyderabad to take the boy home.
