Six arrested for firing in air

NEW DELHI: Six persons, including two lawyers, two property dealers and a Delhi Police head constable, have been arrested for firing in the air from their weapons following a drinks session in the Anand Vihar area of East Delhi early on Wednesday morning.

The police said the accused – Manoj Rana, Ravinder, Jeetu, Ved Bhati, Vikas and Ajay Kumar – had consumed liquor till past 1 a.m. near Cross River Mall in Anand Vihar. Thereafter, they had opened fire. As some members of the public informed the police, all the accused were nabbed and a .32 bore revolver and a 7.65 mm pistol were recovered from their possession.

They were booked under relevant sections of the Arms Act and Excise Act, and for endangering life under the IPC.
